Beresford Arms | www.beresford.com

So you’re in San Francisco, you’ve booked late for a trade show and none of the usual hotels are available. If you like the European hotel experience and are willing to go without the restaurant and fitness center for a night, check out the Beresford Arms. It’s a lovely provincial hotel with the charm of the old world in the heart of San Francisco’s Post Street. Near plenty of great restaurants and neighborhood hang-outs you can feel the pace of life immediately slow when you walk through the door. A veritable bargain in terms of price, it’s a good find.

Opentable | www.opentable.com

This is a destination on the web, it’s free and it’s a great way to locate a good restaurant in a new city. Opentable is a site that presents a selection of restaurants in a city, provides reviews, links to menus and web sites, indications of cost and best of all allows you to make a reservation all online. Sign-up and you’ll receive points for restaurant visits that you can redeem at the same restaurants!

Cortez | www.cortezrestaurant.com

San Francisco tapas! For a great meal with interesting new flavors and great twists on cocktails head to Cortez. It’s an easy walk from the Union Square area. The setting is dramatic and the food is fabulous. Gayot gives it a 14 out of 20 — we give it a thumbs up!

Lucca | www.luccaboston.com

Little Italy in Boston, is the North End’s magical gem. If you stand in front of the right grocery, the historic romance language, the aromas, and the narrow brick streets will take you to Sienna post haste. Lucca is a lovely restaurant on Hanover Street that does an exquisite job of presenting classic ingredients with modern nuances. It also serves late for post-meeting decompression. Order a glass of Prosecco and you’ll be speaking Italian in no time.
